So, this year i decided to do Inktober. It's a monthly event where everyday you should post a drawing in ink. I tried this last year, but i didn't manage. My dedication level of seeing it through failed on day 5 :) I am hopeless! But this year i made a mental note of doing it, for real! First 8 days is successfully delivered to the beautiful Inktober community - and if you have an hour or two to check it out - you should. there are some amazing drawings!

Just a Monster drawing

May entry for @ Character Design Challenge, topic Mermaids and Merman.

My original idea was a rebel mermaid teenager, but she stayed in a sketch for some other time.

I used a photo to reference the head and the hair of the mermaid. 
While drawing, i changed the sketch multiple times, making changes in the pose and color, redoing parts of the image... I tried to avoid my unpatient style, where i stop working on something the moment it reaches the OK phase. And i am very satisfied with the result. 

I watched a video tutorial recently where one line caught my full attention. The difference between a rally good artist and a decent one is the ammount of work the really good artist will start doing in the moment when a decent one stops. And i have to say, that really makes sense...
